ABOUT US
Orange Gateway ehf has a long history in trading Bitcoin. It all started in 2014, when Iceland was still under currency controls after the 2009 financial collapse. A few colleagues from the financial industry decided to build a market for the people of Iceland to buy and sell Bitcoin.
The company was called Skiptimynt ehf and it ran the ISX market in Iceland. One of the founders (the current CEO of Orange Gateway) created a brokerage service for Bitcoin trading in 2019, Bálkar Miðlun ehf, which in 2021 acquired the ISX market.
In 2024 the company was rebranded to Orange Gateway ehf and opened its market for the outside world beyond Iceland.
Orange Gateway is now available world-wide as the leading Icelandic digital currency exchange announces major expansion into South America, Asia and parts of Africa.
Orange Gateway, originally focused on the Icelandic market, is now expanding internationally. They aim to simplify access to crypto for broader audiences, particularly through a fiat on/off-ramp for PSP (Payment Service Providers), making it easier for everyday users to buy crypto assets.
Orange Gateway is striving to redefine digital currency trading by making it accessible in most corners of the world. This Icelandic digital currency exchange is determined to provide a secure and fair platform for spot trading digital assets. Their mission focuses on ensuring that users can engage in digital currency trading safely and efficiently.
